An ancient emperor once enjoyed a special dessert so much that he kept it a royal secret until Marco Polo, who was the first European to record his travels in.  China and took the dessert to Italy. That delicious dessert was ice cream. This fact may come as a surprise since  many people think Chinese food tends to be associated with chop suey rather than  the creation of the ice cream What’s ironic is that chop suey didn’t even originate in China, but in Chinese restaurants in America that wanted to cater to Western tastes.

Just as ice cream was invented in one place before its rise in popularity elsewhere, the sushi that Japan is famous for was first created in Southeast Asia and then spread to Southern China before it was introduced in Japan. The original type of sushi, called “nigiri,” is typically made by hand. The cook takes a small amount of vinegared rice and presses  4  these into a round shape. Sliced raw fish is then placed on top.   Tuna is the most widely used fish for sushi among the Japanese, but other kinds of seafood-salmon, lobster, eel, octopus, and squid are also much appreciated. Despite sushi’s    6  simplicity but it usually takes more than a year to learn how to make sushi with the proper technique.

In Japan, there are several different types of sushi restaurants competing with each other. Of course, there’s the convenient take-out sushi available at most fast food places. Then there are the sushi bar restaurants where diners are served by a chef at the bar or a waiter at a table. Kaiten sushi is a restaurant in which a revolving conveyer  belt that goes round and round, allows, a customer to select their own food. There are even restaurants where one can fish for.  their  own food. There are even restaurants where one can fish for   your own meal. The prices of sushi    10  is different depending on the quality of the fish and the experience of the restaurant. For example,  11  salmon may cost $5 per piece at a sushi bar but only $4 per piece at a kaiten sushi restaurant.
